Christmas Goodies Part 3

I hope everyone had a wonderful & joyful Christmas with their families and loved one. My Christmas was pretty fabulous. I wanted to share one final goodie I got from a client of mine who has become a really good friend. We were out shopping one day and I commented on the item and said how cute it was so she went back to the store and to my surprise got it for me! How sweet! Thank You Keisha! It's perfect for when I need something to transport a smaller amount of makeup   and it's super cute! I can't wait to use it! It comes with 3 pieces which you can use together or separately. Thanks again Keisha! Love you girl ;)

My First Blog Award: The Versatile Blogger!!!

Two days ago when I signed on one of the sweetest things was waiting for me... a blog award! my First! and from one of my favorite bloggers! I am still on a high. This so fits in what I was discussing the other day with a good friend of mine. We were discussing random acts of kindness & how the holiday season is such the perfect time to do such things. I really wish people would do it everyday but the holiday season seems to inspire people to be more joyous, happy friendly... Ok I digress lol
The lovely young lady who singled me out for this award is Christina Marie. Please visit her blog
Christina Marie says.... She has a fun, vibrant blog filled with great makeup, fashion and all things beauty. One of the things I also love about her blogging is she has a great sense of humor! That is so important to me. The more we laugh, the more we live... words I live by. And mostly importantly (to me) she is an absolute sweetheart! I always catch her posts! Check her out ;)

The way this goes is... once someone gives you this award you link back to their blog and thank them (check!) and share with your followers and everyone seven things about you they perhaps wouldn't know otherwise.
Ok... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

1. The answer to one of the most asked questions about me is... Yes. I am indeed a makeup artist.
No I am not on the level of doing  television & movies...yet! But I have done a few music videos
(thats actually how I started) and lately I've been doing quite a bit of fashion shows, weddings and private clients (for whatever various events they're attending). This past summer I even did a bunch of girls for prom (that! was interesting). I do have an agent of sorts, but I am for the most part free lance.. I have all kinds of clients, all the ladies at the law firm I worked at this year have become my clients. It took a while for me to make makeup my primary focus, I'd always done it here and there.. it is not what I went to school for. But I have found my calling and quite frankly... there is no turning back!

2. I am not one of those makeup artists who has something to say when/if I see someone wearing bad makeup. I don't even give the shady eye. It's not my place to critique people. So many people say to me once I've taught them certain things "Why didn't you tell me?!" Because it's not my place and in my opinion it's not nice.

3. My biggest pet peeves in life are phony people and people who don't stand behind things they say. I respect someone more if they just speak the truth... even if I don't like it, or don't agree with it, or could never see it their way. This is what makes us individuals and unique.  And people say they're gonna do this or that.. and make promises they know they can't keep. Urgh!!! You know these people that even as they're saying it you know it's bullshit! Double Urgh! LOL

4. I am a total softy at heart. I have this tough exterior that I know consciously is a shield. But I'm a big sweetheart deep inside. And I'm a sucker for a sob story. Wait! Why am I telling you this?!?!

5. I absolutely love amusement parks. I hate the beach... I know, I know (catch your breath) my Mom doesn't like them either.. what is that they say about apples not falling far from the tree lol!
But amusement parks... OMG I become a kid all over again. And it's not just the rides.. it's the whole experience. I can easily go in the morning and stay till dark. It's my favorite thing to do in the summer.

6. Here's something very, very few know about me. Aside from my obvious addiction to buying makeup I have a HUGE sock fetish! Nearly every time I buy makeup I buy socks. But interesting socks. Plain white socks:boring! I like all patterns, textures, colors... the most I have spent on a single pair is $38. Calvin Klein used to be my fav (I had every style he came out with!) I also like more affordable ones too Forever 21 & Express has cute ones! Btw: I also love fishnets!

7. I am what people call a foodie. I'm quite a good cook (so many tell me) and I love to eat! I love to try all all different kinds of foods.. I absolutely love ethnic foods. One of the great benefits of living in NYC is all the diversity in the choices of restaurants. But! there are two foods I cannot eat. The very thought of either one of them grosses me out beyond belief... Okra & Bananas. Uh oh I'm kinda feeling queasy even typing about it lol Okra is so slimy..and Bananas...urgh the smell, the texture... if I eat anything with banana even in it I get nauseous. SO if your my friend, don't ever put one of these two things near me! lol

*Bouns* 8.  I like to think I'm pretty fearless. And I am! But there are a few things that scare me...
Reptiles! Eeeek! especially snakes... they're so slimy & seemingly sneaky. I can't do snakes, or any reptiles for that matter! And large cats.. Lions,Tigers, Jaguars oh my! Keep in mind people I LOVE animals.. I even worked at the ASPCA for 6 years, but only a fool would mess with a wild cat. That is SCARY! LOL There is nothing you can do if they decide you are that moments meal... oooo I know one... don't go near them! :-D

That's all folks.. Thank You Christina! Happy Holidays Everyone! xoxo

From her beginning as half of Sonny & Cher to transforming the Sonny & Cher Show to The Cher Show to her topping the charts with hit after hit in the 80's and winning an Oscar to her reemergence in the 90's with the smash Believe and winning a Grammy for that to a world tour and farewell tour that broke records (which thankfully I saw!) and as of late taking Las Vegas by storm and returning to the silver screen finally in Burlesque... she has been every inch the Superstar yet the kind of chick that would tell you to go fuck yourself. Tell me... how can you not love Cher? She is a fucking force of nature!!!!! Today at 64 she looks better than ever... I hope I can look even half that good at 46!!! There is no one like her. Christmas Goodies Part 2 A Haul

I got this trio of nail polishes from E.L.F. I love, love , love glitter polishes so I gave it  a shot... I mean you can't go wrong for the price! I really like the Silver & the Gold... the Red not so much. It's not full on glitter like the other two. It's a red polish with flecks of glitter through out.. it's ok. I'll most likely  give it away. That's the great thing about the E.L.F dollar line.. your not so mad if you don't like it. ;)
Top row the trio of lipsticks from E.L.F. ($3) here you can see better the lack of glitter in the red :(
A pair of lashes by E.L.F. ($1). A double sided wand from E.L.F. on clear mascara the other for eyebrows($1). I bought it for the clear mascara. Then I got another of the Eyeliner & Shadow Stick from E.L.F. ($3) I bought it in green & loved it. I really love it in the Smoke (shadow) & Black (liner). I did a smoky eye over the weekend with it:amazing! It's great as an eye base too! They have one more color I believe. E.L.F. please make this in other colors! :-)
Then I got a Sonia Kashuk Fluffy Brush ($4.99) Sorry it's kind of hidden by the Eyeliner & Shadow, but everyone knows what a fluffy brush looks like right? Good. I didn't want to take the pic again! lol

From Bath & Body Works I got this bath gel from their Summer Vanillas line in Coconut ($10.50)
OMG! This is Delish! The fragrance of it is divine & after you shower or bathe it leaves your skin feeling like butter! I am in love. Then after bathing you apply some of their Intense Moisture Body Butter ($15.00). I got it in Warm Vanilla Sugar. I have really dry skin and since I've been using their body butter (for almost 5 yrs now) my skin is so hydrated and soft for the entire day. I can't live without it. And finally I got their Body Mist in Warm Vanilla Sugar ($12.50). I love a fragrance and these body mists offer a nice array of choices and they're not too strong. I save my more concentrated fragrance for going out at night. I got loads more from this store but they're gifts so I can't post them. The very people they are for read my blog... yes I see you! lol :-)

Christmas Goodies Part 1

I got some lovely stuff from Clinique. What makes it even more lovely is I didn't have to pay for it!
I got two makeup bags larger one with the deep pink background smaller one white background.
Also got the Moisturizing Lotion (tube), Youth Surge w/ SPF 15 (in jar), Lash Doubling Mascara in Black, Lipstick in Angelic, Eyeshadow Duo in Strawberry Fudge (a gorgeous frosted pink & frosted brown). Then in front a double sided  Rollerball fragrance by Michael Kors: one side Michael Kors Eau De Parfum, other side Very Hollywood Michael Kors Eau De Parfum.
I love Clinique skin products! I haven't used them in a while, the Moisturizing Lotion was a staple of mine. It was the first I ever used... I'm now reminded how great it is. And.. I LOVE Michael Kors scents. I just love the holiday season... don't you? ;-) xoxo

The eyes are entirely done with the E.L.F. 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection Palette.
Other products after the jump...

It's HAUL Time!

I got a bunch of different things recently on my trip to the mall. Got some other stuff for holiday gifts that I obviously wont be posting. Here's all the stuff I got for myself. Who can can go shopping and not get stuff for they're self? Certainly not me! LOL Excuse the blurriness of some of this pics... it just wouldn't come clearer & I just didn't have the time! ;)

I use IMAN's foundations all the time but had yet to try the liquid that came out a few months back. I finally got the Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup in Earth 3. A special holiday package of it came with a foundation brush. I'm glad I waited the brush is fabulous! Now I'm on a mission to get the normal size brush. I'm in love with the mini version. And the liquid foundation it self it quite good. Just what I expected.. the sticks & cremes are excellent. ($14.99)

I also got the SuperStay Liquid Foundation by Maybelline. It's the sister to Revlon's ColorStay (which I LOVE!) so I was eager to see what it's like. I've tried it out and it had the long wear it promises but as always my issue with Maybelline is their choice in colors. People with darker skin as myself are hard pressed to find and exact match in Maybelline. I had to mix it with something else to get it to look natural & indeed match me... otherwise it's too orangy. ($10.99)

Got some lotions and a fragrance mist from Bath & Body Works. Black Amethyst Lotion, Midnight Pomegranate Lotion & Dark Kiss Fragrance Mist. I love their stuff.. the lotions are so creamy and the fragrances are not too overpowering. They had a big sale going on this trio was $10.
Lastly I got some ELF products. An Angeled Eyeshadow Brush ($1), an Eyeliner & Shadow Stick ($3). This is a great product! The shadow side is a metallic green & the liner is in moss (a darker green). I would love to see them make this in more colors! And a Studio Eyeshadow in Butter Cream ($3). This color is Amazing! It is perfect for a highlight color on the eyes for me. I've worn it everyday I've done my makeup since I bought it! And then I got a blush by IMAN. I love it! It has a slight shimmer and the color works great for me. It gives me a red cheek without being too red. This color is called Peace. ($10)

What's Going On?

Taking a moment say hello. I wanted to say hello to all the cool people I've met since having this blog. It's such a great experience to share with other people that are as passionate about makeup and fashion as I am. We learn things from one another, see different aspects of products that you maybe wouldn't have otherwise. Whether from a practicing MAU or a beginner you can always learn something new from someone. Some of my favorite blogs that I look forward to are She Does Make Up , Christina Marie Says... , FunnyFace Beauty , GossMakeupArtist , Lilo and Co , Eye Candy and more.
A few questions I'm asked frequently:
I started doing makeup professionally in the late 90's when I got the job as the principle makeup artist for a group called Fama Cinco. The group comprised of 5 guys was quite a learning experience. I had to learn to make them up without it looking like they were wearing makeup. Inadvertently that teaches you so much, you don't even realize it at the time.
People keep asking why I don't do tutorials! I will...ok LOL It's something definitely in the plans for 2011! I promise ;)
The other thing is give aways. I'm at 19 followers now & after asking some other bloggers whats a good number to do your fist giveaway I've settled on 30. Once I get 30 followers I'll have a nice giveaway. Lord knows I need to give away something.. I buy makeup like I have a drug habit! LOL
   Stay beautiful!

Wet n Wild Palette & New Nail Colors

I made a decision to be conscious of buying makeup with such abandon. I see.. I buy. It's not easy, but I'm a work in progress :) But, when I saw the Wet n Wild Lust Palette I've read so much about I could not resist. I mean it's inexpensive right? It's been largely said it's an excellent dupe for the NARS duo Eurydice. Well I'm here to tell you it completely true! It's quite shocking. Eurydice is a duo that costs $32 and Lust is a palette that costs $4.99 who would have imagined! Wet n Wild has definitely stepped up their game girls I would encourage giving their stuff a shot. Of course now I have to get some of the other palettes lol... how could I not!?
Then I got two new nail polishes. One by SinfulColors in Fiji (Purple) at $3.99. The color payoff is not as deep as the bottle leads you to believe, but after wearing it I really like it. It's a very vibrant purple and has a slight shimmer. The other is by LA Colors. There isn't a color description on the bottle but it's a dark eggplant kind of color. I bought it because I've been wanting an alternative to black, something dark yet not so dark. I was online in a bargain store, saw it in the corner of my eye and grabbed it... it was only $1.99. I love it! It also wears pretty well... I wore it 3 days and had very minimal chipping. It's becoming more & more evident you can get quality for less.

Concealer Palette

I got a new concealer palette I got recently, I got one for myself and one to use on clients. It has 15 shades that go from very fair to deep. I absolutely love it. I wanted to use it for a while before I blogged about it so... I've been using it everyday and it is fabulous! All but one of the colors are completely matte (upper right corner has a shimmer). Most colors are different variations of browns & beiges. The first column: top is a cream-white shimmer, middle is green & bottom is a purplish color...next to that on the bottom row is pink. It's also very affordable, I paid $15 from a beauty supply store here in NYC. Check your local beauty supply store in the city you live, most have items like this. Nearly all major city's have them. If your not in a major city or can't find a beauty supply near you go to ebay. If you need different shades of concealers purchasing them separately can be very costly. xoxo

Smoky Eyes

Hi Everyone! Using the E.L.F 32 Eyeshadow Collection I did a smoky eye look. I tried to keep it only E.L.F. products.. only deviated slightly.
Next will be a look using NYX products. A complete list of products used after the jump. xoxo

E.L.F. Haul

I needed some e.l.f. products that I couldn't get in the stores so I made an order. I think I buy from e.l.f. monthly ;)  here are the things I got....
Top row: Complexion Perfection Powder which I think is excellent for a highlight..and on a variety of skin tones. Next: Shielding Hydro Tint w/ SPF 15... it's a nice sheer cover moisturizer with a tint for when you don't want to wear a foundation & it's great it has the SPF. Next: The Cool Bronzer, this is a fabulous Bronzer! More details below!
Bottom row: Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Coffee. I LOVE this product from them and I could not find it anywhere in the stores in this color.. all I ever see is Black, I really needed a brown. A Foundation Brush, pretty standard we know what they're like. I will say this I'm beginning to love e.l.f.'s brushes more & more every day. Next: A Creme Eyeshadow Duo in Sugar Cookie. I love to keep an arsenal of creme shadows, they double fabulously as an eye shadow base for certain looks.

Next I got a Palette: The 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection. One of their newer products which I thought was really cute. I actually got a few of these and plan to use them as gifts.. the holidays are coming! I used it last night on a client and I like it very much. I've often said that e.l.f.'s palettes seem to have shadows with deeper pigment then the singular ones and this palette continues that thread, although to get optimal pay off you need to use a shadow base of some sort.
                                                     32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection

Ok. About the Cool Bronzer. When I got my order it was the only product in the package that was broken. I was devastated! Because.. this bronzer is FABULOUS!! I absolutely love this bronzer. I wear it without foundation  or when I want a more dramatic look over foundation. It is truly matte and lasts a long time. I've used it on other people and it works on so many different skin tones. This has become a must in my collection. And every time I try to get it from Target it's sold out. That's why I had to order it. When I saw it came all broken up I almost cried lol! But! When I called  e.l.f. the exemplary customer service staff was pleasant and quick to offer to send me a new one... free of charge. It came in three days woohoo! It's so nice to have a positive experience with customer service.. some other company's should take notice that that's the way you treat customers okay MAC? Okay! Just sayin' ;) And no I don't work for e.l.f. and I buy everything with my own money. xoxo
Here's the Cool Bronzer before & after...

Inspiration For The Week: Rihanna!

The Barbadian beauty Robyn Rihanna Fenty better known simply just as Rihanna is a force of nature. She has built an impressive career amassing several number one singles in a short span of time and has become not only a trend setter but a beauty icon. At 22 years old Rihanna not only has a contract with a major recoding label but also a national contract with Cover Girl, a book on the way, a fragrance soon to be in stores and her first movie 'Battleship' in 2011. She came back stronger than ever after a very difficult period and proved we can't let unfortunate circumstances define who we are. Knowledge is power. She is a definite Inspiration.

Haul featuring NYX, Maybelline & a New Discovery!

I went to a local beauty supply store here NYC with the intention to get a new Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk which I got and an eyeshadow another makeup artist I met at a fashion show had Extreme Apricot (in the middle) which I got. I also got two new NYX eye shadows... to my surprise NYX has a shadow that is an exact dupe for one of favorite MAC shadows called Beauty Marked! I was floored... it's called Sensual and it's not only the exact same color in my opinion it's better! It's a dark nearly black color with a purplish hue with a gorgeous shimmer to it. Once again NYX has beat out MAC! (the NYX shadow on the left) I also got a third NYX shadow called Red Bean Pie (NYX shadow on right) It's a lightly frosted, kinda of mauve brownish color... looks gorgeous on my skin color. I plan on using this A LOT! Also by NYX I got the Studio Liquid Liner in Purple (above NYX shadows). Then I got a Lip Pencil by a company I had never purchased from before called Nicka K Cosmetics in Brown. Then I got a shadow by Nicka K (also called NK)....

Pictured above is the NK shadow.. High Definition Eye Shadow in #3031 which is a Purple Shimmer. It is one of the best shadows I have discovered in quite some time. Especially considering they are only $1.99 a piece! The pigment is simply out of this world! It's crazy! Highly recommended... give them a shot. I only bought one, I was trying it out... needless to say I'm going back to get several other shades! lol
Next I got Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in Dark. I have to tell you this products pisses me off. Why? Because it is fabulous. The consistency is so rich and smooth, it goes on so easily like butter, it feels good on.. does not feel heavy.. sounds all good right? The only problem once again it's a product that does not compliment people with deeper colored skin as myself. The colors are varied until you get to the darker tones. Actually theres just one. I tried it and it gave me an orangy hue that just doesn't look natural. I could blend it with another color but it's time consuming... why can't they just make a wider array of colors? That's my only gripe. So if you are of a lighter skin tone this is great for you, if not... probably not. That's it for my haul,  till next time
xoxo

September Favorites!

This past month there were a handful of things that made a lasting impression on me. Maybelline's Falsies Mascara: Fabulous! It elongates my lashes, leaves them dark and thick without clumping. ELF's Waterproof Eyeliner Pen: Amazing! It's crazy... at a fraction of the price of the other liner Pens it's much better! Love it! Prestige's Lipstick in Raven: Fantastic! It is the perfect shade for me. I wanted something light but not to light, with a hint of color... it's as if they made it just for me! NYX's Pearl Loose Powder Pigments: Crazy! It is the perfect dupe for MAC pigments. It's a forth of the price and just as good... if not better! I'm really falling in love with NYX! And last but definitely not least Rimmel's Nail Polish in Steel Gray: Gorgeous! It's the craze of the moment.. smoky nail colors. This one is great! It says Steel Grey but it has a hint of purple in it. I wear it all the time.. day or night. Get compliments all the time. But more importantly I Love it!
Lastly one thing I forgot to add so there's no photo.. ELF's Eye Shadow Remover Pads: Love it! They take off your eye make up quick & easy. No matter how heavy the liner or dark the shadow it erases it with ease. So those are my favs for Sept.
I just bought a bunch of stuff so I have a haul coming and with a new line I discovered which I'm loving... soon as I get a chance I'll post it! Ciao xoxo

Dare to Wear with Revlon ColorStay

I'm using this look for 2 purposes... officially trying out the ColorStay foundation by Revlon and FunnyFace Beauty's Dare To Wear Challenge. Kill 2 birds with one stone ;)
Well, the ColorStay foundation is nice but it did not blow my mind. I can recommend it, it gives decent coverage and it's easy enough to work with. I will say this, if your looking for light coverage this isn't for you... the end result is pretty opaque. It's supposed to last a full day.. I only used it for a few hours so I can't attest to that, but it's such a thick substantial finish I could see where it might.. but you'll have to see for yourself. I can't see myself wearing this often at all, it doesn't compare to my IMAN.. but it's nice, perhaps a nice dupe for me.
As for the look: it's my submission to Alicia's Dare To Wear Challenge on her blog FunnyFace Beauty. The inspiration is a look Miley Cyrus had in her last music video.  What I took from the inspiration was wild hair, smoky eyes, very light blush & a strong lip... there were feathered lashes, I left that out to give it a less costumey look...

Revlon ColorStay & Mini Haul

After hearing and reading so much about Revlon's ColorStay I have been dying to try it for myself. So many guru's on blog and video have been singing it's praises for a while. I have long been a proponent of the fact that Revlon, Maybelline, Max Factor and the like didn't supply adequate foundations for people of color. They didn't offer many shades when it came to the deeper tones and the ones they did had a tendency to make you look ashy. So my interest was piqued when I saw all the blogers & vlogers with women of color praising ColorStay.... and now I am in agreement! It's fabulous! I've tried it out... it gives great coverage, and it's a good match to my skin tone. I got it in Cappuccino, and they have several deeper tones! While I was at Rite-Aid they had a buy 1 get 1 free sale on certain brands... the only thing that wasn't sold out that I use was N.Y.C. So.. I got their Bronzer (which I love & use all the time) and the Translucent Loose Powder (just got because it was half off.. hope I like it!) and Wet n Wild Mega Mixers Lip Balm in Berry Fizz.
I'll be posting a look using the Revlon ColorStay very soon.... xoxo

Inspiration For The Week: Vanessa!

Vanessa Williams is and has always been one of the most beautiful women on this planet. She is the queen of neutral tones.. I love her makeup style! She does the neutrals to perfection! Even back in the days when she was having problems with her skin she was unmistakably striking. Those days are long gone after she discovered Proactive. From those piercing grey eyes to that gorgeous smile and formidable talents it's easy to see why she became the first black Miss America. I love her pretty, soothing singing voice and thoroughly enjoyed her on Ugly Betty. Can't wait till this Sunday when she joins the vast of Desperate Housewives... haven't been excited about that show in ages! I love this beautiful, classy Lady!

Makeup details after the jump...

Favorite E.L.F.!

I was running out of recent favorite E.L.F. product the 'Waterproof Eyeliner Pen' It is the most amazing pen. It's fabulous.. and for the price you just can't beat it! Honestly I've bought other similar pens and they weren't half as good. I went to my nearby Target to get a new one, they had 3 left and I just got all 3! I hate ordering E.L.F. products I can get right at Target.. I mean why pay the shipping?! Of  course while I was there I got some other things. Got a Concealer Brush (I intend to use to apply creme shadows), the Bronzing Brush (I'll use for highlight) and the Brightening Eyeliner,  I honestly am not crazy about the liner.. I like the accompanying sharpener ;)

Next I got: the Eye Makeup Remover Pads. I like to use their Complexion Perfection Powder as a highlight but they were out :-( I got the Clarifying Pressed Powder in Honey instead (we'll see :-/ ), then I got 2 more of the Super Glossy Lip Shines in Watermelon and Malt Shake. By the by... these are amazing. Great as a gloss in addition to a lipstick or on it's own, the color pay off is pretty cool. And they have SPF in them, have a fruity taste and not very sticky like a lot of the lip glosses. This is one of their better products as well. Don't sleep on E.L.F. girls they have some cute stuff!

My Latest NYX Products

I have some new NYX products to add to my collection... I just love NYX. I'm building up my collection of their stuff. Got a few new pieces: a 5 piece pallete named I Dream Of ST. Lucia from The Caribbean Collection. Rich vibrant colors, it's gorgeous... anyone who knows me knows how I love color! (pallete is on top). Then I got 6 of their Loose Pearl Powder's (from left to right) in the colors of: Black, Walnut, Fanta, True Purple, Space and Very Pink. I seriously cannot pick just one of these. The colors are ALL so rich & pigmented it's truly fabulous! These are a must have. Trust me I will be getting more, I wanted to get a few to see if I really liked it... well I do! Highly recommended. Pictured next to the NYC products is a new mascara I got while attending Fashion Night Out @ Patricia Field's in NYC. One word: Amazing! This is the best mascara I've had in a long time. It's the Falsies Volume Express by Maybelline. After applying very little product I swear it thickens your lashes so much & so quickly it'll blow your mind. I'm lucky I got a bunch of them and for free! so I won't run out for quite sometime :) Give this a try!
As I do looks with the new NYX colors I will share. Till next time... xoxo

Inspiration For The Week

This is my first in what will be my series of what inspires me in beauty for the week. It my not be each and every week, I will update as I am inspired. I always think it's a good thing to have inspiration in what ever you do. The things that inspire you feed your creativity and  give you purpose. Iman is perfect to start of the series... she is Divine! At 55 years young she is still one of the most vibrant, relevant and most iconic trend setting beauty's of our time. She is Classic. I remain in awe of this accomplished woman. Thanks for inspiring me Iman!

My 'Wearable' Dare To Wear Look

One of my favorite Blogs & one I follow is having a Dare To Wear Challenge. Here is my entry. After considering to go all out with a Runway look I decided to take another angle. I decided to take the extreme looks from the prototype photos and do something you can wear almost anywhere. I kept certain elements... the bold Orange, the exaggerated contour & highlight and made it something a bit more relatable. I added an extra pop of color with a Burgandy brow! It is still a statement look... live a little and try it out! ;-) Visit Alicia's Blog "FunnyFace Beauty" and enter if you DARE !

Labor Day Weekend

This is the look I did this past Labor Day weekend. Using the new colors I got last week from my Mini-Drug Store Haul. The new Revlon Primer I got is pretty cool. I'll admit I've gotten so used to the Smashbox primer but it's a nice dupe. I absolutely LOVE the Wet n Wild Creme Liner! It really is amazing...especially for the price. It's $3.99. Much better than the one by HIP which is $15! Big thanks to Tatiana Ward for that recommendation, her site http://www.beatfacehoney.com
I used the Prestige Duo on the eyes and also added Makeup Forever's Blue Eyeshadow to give the Prestige blue an extra pop. And I used e.l.f.'s Pink Kiss lip gloss. Here's the link for new products I used: Drugstore Mini-Haul

Drugstore Mini-Haul

Ok. This drugstore excursion started out as a means for me to get a Primer. I have run out of my Primer (by Smashbox) Eeeek! Can't fathom doing my make up without a Primer. So... I saw where a drugstore chain in NYC 'Duane Reade' was having a sale on all lip products by Prestige. My intention was to get a bunch of lipsticks and a Primer. Didn't feel like traveling to get my Smashbox so I was going to give either the Loreal or Revlon a shot. Revlon won that little war! Revlon's Beyond Natural Primer... can't wait to try it out. But, my lipsticks... seems everyone else took advantage of the Prestige sale as well. Only found one I liked :(  A nice  kind of deep mauve shade called Rave. Also picked up a eye shadow duo by Prestige with a gorgeous  deep navy blue & creamy beige, both with a shimmer. Another but.. There was also a sale on Covergirl eye shadows! $2 off of the quads. I Found a nice one with rich vibrant colors called Tropical Fusion. Then I got the Wet n Wild Creme Eyeliner so many bloggers I've been noticing rave about so. Gonna finally give it a shot. And a Jordana retractable eyeliner... and old favorite! Then... I stopped at Walgreen's to get something else and noticed they had Covergirl eye shadows on sale as well... but 1 get 1 free! Well... you know I did! One in shimmering Onyx and the other Tapestry Taupe. Will load pictures this weekend and show what these colors look like on!

* I took a second picture of the Prestige Duo & Lipsticks, I didn't think it was clear enough in the 1st picture. And.. the Covergirl Quad's colors are richer than the picture shows... I tried my best ;)
